We've been dealing with some issues with our oldest, Maverick. Mainly, backtalking, defiance, and WHINING. Oh, that "nails on a chalkboard", "Dear Lord, where the heck are my earplugs?" type of whining that makes steam shoot out of my ears. I can't stand whining. Period.
The poor kid's constantly in time out.
Anyways, I'm browsing Pinterest one day and come across this pin.
One of the ideas was a "Corrections Can".
Here's my take on it with a super short tute.
Consequence Can
What you need:
Can of some sort with a lid
Scrapbook paper and/or cardstock
Stickers
Spray Adhesive
Creative list of consequences
Step 1: Cut your paper to fit around the can. Glue it on with spray adhesive.
Step 2: Make your label with either stickers or on the computer. Glue it on.
Step 3: Type or write out your consequences. I put in small chores, loss of screen time, and the good old stand-by, time out. I also put in a blank one. I think it's important to show our kids grace and mercy from time to time to be a picture of God's grace towards us.
Step 4: Put it where your kid can see it.
Now, I'm not sure how well this will work, but I'm willing to try anything. This parenting stuff is kinda tricky.
Thanks for stopping by!
