Heehee...
I'm a dork.
I finally got up the nerve to try shirring after having the stinkin' elastic thread since before Hudson was born. I just didn't think that I or my machine could handle it. But, in the words of Yoda, "Do or do not. There is no try." (Again, I'm a dork.)
I bought a couple of bandanas to make a baby dress for my bestie's little girl. I figured if I screw it up I'm out two bucks, that's it.
After getting my thread hopelessly tangled in my machine and spending the better part of and hour picking it out with tweezers and a seam ripper, this is what I came up with.
Here's a closer view of my amazing shirring job. Just don't ask to look at the inside.
After I realized I could do it, I saw this tutorial at Sew Like My Mom and decided to make myself a skirt.
Got a funny look from the hubs as he was trying to figure out why my new skirt looked a lot like one of his t-shirts. And I really need to invest in a full length mirror. Geez.
Sorry about the blurry pictures. I'm not that great at self portraits and my four year old is just an amateur photographer.
Lesson learned. You don't know if you're capable of doing something unless you just do it.
Thanks for stopping by!
